Summary

The Local Enterprise Authority (LEA) is dedicated to becoming the premier centre of excellence for entrepreneurship development and the growth of sustainable Small, Medium, and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs) in Botswana. To achieve this ambitious vision, LEA is seeking a dynamic and visionary Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead the organization in fulfilling its mandate of fostering citizen entrepreneurship and building a competitive SMME sector capable of accessing international markets.

Job Purpose

Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the CEO will be at the helm of a team of skilled professionals, steering the execution of LEA’s strategic objectives. The CEO will be responsible for transforming Botswana’s SMME ecosystem, working in concert with key development partners to create impactful and sustainable enterprises. Key responsibilities include ensuring robust talent management, exercising prudent financial stewardship, leading transformative initiatives within LEA, and promoting a vibrant entrepreneurial culture across the country. The CEO will also be instrumental in driving stakeholder engagement to enhance sectoral growth and ensuring that the organisation operates at peak performance to facilitate exponential growth within the SMME community.

The Job

We are seeking a proven leader with a deep understanding of the SMME sector. The ideal candidate will have a track record of successfully promoting or influencing SMME development and possess a long-term strategic vision for the sector’s growth. Your career achievements should demonstrate your leadership abilities and management expertise, underpinned by a commitment to excellence and innovation.

The person

• A Master's Degree in Economics, Law, Business Administration or related field. Membership of a professional and internationally recognised institute will be an added advantage.
• A minimum of fifteen (15) years experience at the level of Director, or Executive Management level locally, regionally, or internationally.
• Demonstrated success in leadership roles, with a strong focus on SMME development
• Strategic mindset with the drive to create a lasting impact within the SMME sector and possess exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills
